 The Michigan Winter Beer Festival on this Saturday, February 26! From 1-6 p.m. I hope you already have tickets because you are going to be hard pressed to find them. The 2011 Winter Beer Festival is going to be the biggest and best ever! With 57 breweries represented, 370 different beers to sample, and over 5400 tickets sold (1000 more than last year), this will be an amazing winter celebration of Michigan Beer! This list is just about complete, only one more brewery to add. Mark your favorites now, there are some interesting sounding beers on this list!

Chill out at downtown Lansing's Frost Fest on Saturday, February 13! From 1-5 p.m. Chill out at downtown Lansing's Frost Fest on Saturday, February 13! From 1-5 p.m. enjoy family friendly activities on S. Washington Square and Adado Riverfront Park. Along the 100 and 200 blocks of S. Washington Sq. you'll find ice sculptures, a warming tent with kids' activities and refreshments, liquid nitrogen and dry ice demonstrations by Impression 5, complimentary carriage rides and outdoor music by Jammin' DJ's and 94.1 The Edge. Activities in the park (weather permitting) include, snowboard rail demos by Modern Skate & Surf, Trebuchet launches at 2 p.m. & 3 p.m. by Impression 5, a snowman building area, a snowball throwing contest, and other winter related activities. The CATA Frost Fest trolley will be there giving rides between the two locations! That evening beat the winter blues at the MBC (Michigan Brewing Company) Frost Fest beer tent from 7-11 p.m.! Featuring only microbrews from MBC, an ice bar, and a "Cold Butt" euchre tournament you're sure to have a good time. Entry into the MBC beer tent is $10 and will include a Frost Fest mug and one drink. Only those with iron butt's will be allowed to play in the "Cold Butt" euchre tournament! Sit on blocks of ice as you take on your other cold weather comrades in a few dueling rounds of euchre. Entry fee per team is $50 (fee also includes your entry into the beer tent, your Frost Fest mug and one drink per team member). First place team wins a $100 cash prize and another surprise gift. The 16 Annual Quiet Water Symposium is scheduled for March 5, 2011
The Quiet Water Symposium celebrates non-motorized outdoorrecreation and a shared concern for our Great Lakes Environment. At the Symposium visitors will find presentations by world famous authors, photographers, and expedition travelers. Other presentations may cover skills, safety, local and distant destinations. There may be presentations on bicycling, sailing, diving, and history. The Symposium has a wide range of exhibits on the show floor. You will find clubs and nature centers. Handcrafted and historic watercraft will be on display. Biking, hiking and water trails are represented. Conservation and watershed groups are available. A number of outfitters and liveries are represented to support your outdoor adventures. We have a growing selection of outdoor oriented retailers as well.

Entering its 17th year, the Lansing JazzFest is a two-day FREE music festival that brings national, regional, and local acts to an audience of roughly 15,000 people from across Michigan and nearby states. JazzFest's music truly is living music, history in the making. Each artist at the festival is asked to play an original composition, something that hasn't been played at any other festival. This year's festival will take place Friday, August 5 (4pm-12am), and Saturday, August 6, 2011 (2pm-12am), in the streets of Old Town, surrounded by the best of the Capital City's art galleries as well as unique retail stores and grand architecture. Vendors offer ethnic food, beverages, art, clothing, and crafts, and nearby galleries and boutiques open their doors during festival hours. Delta Rocks! Family Festival 2011
Come to Sharp Park on Saturday, June 25 for a day of family fun. Everyone will have a great time participating in the many events which will include clowns, pony rides, petting zoo, turtle racers, face painting, super sling shot, sports challenge, bubble booth, children's make-it-take-it craft booths, a visit from Big Lug, concessions, treasure chest, games, pirates revenge ride, Dixie twister ride, giant inflatable slide, purple people eater obstacle course, business expo, non- profit area and much more. New this year will be a mini-jeep event and valet bike parking for those who want to ride their bikes to the park. Festival admission and parking are free. Only a few of the activities have a minimal fee. There will be a free shuttle running continuously from the back of the Lansing Mall near Best Buy to Sharp Park.
The shuttle will run from 12 to 6:30 p.m. The very popular kid's community art project will be a butterfly this year. Look for more information in our summer magazine coming out in May on how to participate in this project.
You will once again be able to participate in the Michigan Child Identification program sponsored by Wacousta Dewitt Masonic Lodge #359.
The festival runs from 12-6 p.m. so plan on spending the day at Sharp Park.
