Did you know that Sam's Club sells your information to data mining companies who then resell all of your personal information to telemarketers?
I could not believe it. I filled out an application for a membership card as you are required to do. I specifically asked the associate at the counter if the company sells our information or if it is kept confidential. She said they would never sell it to anyone.
So I used my real name on the application and a clean address, phone number and new email address that had never been used before on any previous credit applications, contest forms or any other forms that could be used to solicit me for products or services I do not need.
About a month or so later I start to receive telemarketer calls on the cell phone number I used on that credit application. I have also been receiving junk mail arriving at the address I gave them as well.
The new email address that was never used prior is starting to receive spam mail as well. With new email accounts no matter what you will start to get junk mail in your inbox so it is difficult to tell how much originated from them directly or indirectly.
I am really upset that they would tell me one thing and then do another.
Like they really need the money!
This is just another privacy betrayal by a huge corporation that does whatever it wants no matter who it tramples on in the process.
In closing we need to be careful who we give our personal information to. Everyone is out to make a quick buck to learn about our shopping or buying habits no matter if we are online or in a physical store location.
