The Motor City has a long-standing brewing history, and in recent years it has been revitalized thanks to a growing interest in the craft beer movement – including the3rd Annual Detroit Fall Beer Festival. As one of four annual events sponsored by the Michigan Brewers Guild, this fall event – held on Saturday, October 22 at Eastern Market – is being held in conjunction with media partner, metrotimes. Some 50 Michigan craft breweries will offer samples of more than 200 different beers throughout the afternoon. Eastern Market is one of the nation's oldest farm markets and the area is rife with brewing history. In its heyday, there were more than 40 breweries in the Detroit area and malt silos still stand as a testament to the rich brewing history – making it the perfect backdrop for the Detroit Fall Beer Festival.
This year's entertainment line-up includes The Beggars, a Ferndale alternative rock band, DMZ – an alternative rock band from Detroit and Doop & The Inside Outlaws, a Detroit-based alternative country band. DJ Dante LaSalle will be spinnin' the hits as well. Admission to the Detroit Fall Beer Festival is $35 in advance or $40 at the gate (if tickets are available; last year, the event sold out days beforehand) and includes 15 drink tokens (each good for one 3-ounce beer sample).
