Google just released a new website speed test tool that obviously checks the speed of your website when it is launched. It has been known for a while now that Google uses the speed of your page loads as a ranking factor on their search engine.
If your site loads to slow it can be penalized and loose ranking. This is why it is so important not to have a bunch of flash on your website or too many image files that slow down your website load time.
Think about this, if you open your webpage up on your cell phone how fast can you use the functions of your site? If it takes too long your site loads too slow. You need to fix it.
The cool factor of this new Google search optimization tool is it gives you a level of priority to the problems it finds on your site. It also gives you links to an explanation and the no how to rectify the situation.
I am happy to say my website had no high priority items but it did have a few medium to low priority items that could be taken care of.
